Most of the poetry I write is humorous, but every once in a while I get serious.
In 2005 I won the Grand Prize in the Half Price Books Bedtime Storybook contest for
a poem called “The Butterfly Tree.”
As I got older, I got pretty good at writing funny poems for special occasions. Here’s
one I wrote for my daughter’s second grade Challenge Math group.
When I was six, I wrote my first poem, called “The Seasons.” Here is the first stanza:
Not a very auspicious beginning, I’m afraid.
While my first published book happens to be in prose, I love writing in rhyme. My
